A famous Pharma company recently implemented a Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) plant at its new facility in Vizag, India. The plant was designed and supplied by Shachi Engineering, a leading provider of ZLD solutions.

The ZLD plant is designed to treat 100 KLD of wastewater from the pharmaceutical manufacturing process. It includes a stripper system to remove low-boiler solvents, a four-effect evaporation plant, a centrifuge, and an ATFD (Agitated Thin Film Dryer). The plant also features self-cleaning technology, which helps to prevent fouling and reduce maintenance costs.

The main challenge of the project was to design and install a plant that could meet the client’s strict requirements for treating complex effluent generated in Pharma & API industries.

The ZLD plant included a Stripper System to remove low-boiler organic solvents, a four-effect evaporation plant followed by a combination of centrifuge, and an ATFD (Agitated-Thin Film Dryer) for post-evaporation.
